Ashwagandha is an ayurvedic herb that pacifies Vata and Kapha and increases Pitta. It strengthens the nervous system and decreases depression and stress. It balances bodily functions and is a strong antioxidant. It’s an adaptogenic herb, which means that is increases energy levels when the system is fatigued, without putting it into overdrive (like what happens when we use stimulants like sugar and caffeine), and calms it down when it is hyperactive. It’s often called the Indian Ginseng.
